Sabeen Raza recently joined the Academic Technology Operations team at Houston Methodist Academic Institute (HMAI). She is a Senior Applications Analyst providing Bioinformatics support for data analysis pipelines and genomics apps used on the Research Institute’s HPC cluster.



She previously worked for Baylor College of Medicine in collaboration with the Texas Children's Microbiome Center. Her role as a Senior System Administrator involved setting up, administration & maintenance of Linux servers as well as developing and maintaining Next Generation Sequence analysis pipelines.  These included comparative genomics, single genome mapping of Human Microbiome as well as strain typing & variant calling for the SAR-COV2 infections for surveillance within the pediatric population at TCH.



At Houston Methodist she has been configuring and benchmarking NVIDIA Parabricks workflows.  Her recent work focused on optimizing an NVIDIA GPU enabled guppy basecalling pipeline used for long read sequences produced by Oxford Nanopore sequencers. She will be sharing her findings with us.
